What ShadePath does
Comfort-optimized routes
Analyzes dozens of environmental factors in real time to generate the most comfortable path available, whether you're avoiding heat, wind, or humidity.
Voice-guided navigation
Turn-by-turn voice guidance about conditions ahead. Put your phone in your pocket. ShadePath keeps talking so you can keep moving.
6 personas, one app
Each persona adjusts comfort scoring and voice guidance, because a runner and a senior experience the same weather very differently.
Your data stays yours
Your routes stay on your device. The only thing that ever leaves is your live position — should you choose to share, only with the people you pick. Never sold, deleted when it ends. No ad tracking. No ads.
Why I built this
I have always loved running. Running makes me feel alive. The constant scenery change, the fresh air, the feeling of pushing yourself a little further than yesterday.
On February 9, 2026, I set out for a 9-mile run in Allen, Texas. I was preparing for the Irving Half Marathon at the end of March. My New Year's resolution. My first real race. February in Texas is supposed to be manageable. It wasn't.
I finished the run. But my body was done. Severe cramps. Completely dehydrated. Heart rate peaked at 181 BPM. I didn't run again for months. The half marathon came and went without me.
What frustrated me most wasn't the distance. I'd trained for it. It was that no running app I used considered weather or comfort at all. They designed routes for distance and pace while the elements wore me down.
So I started building the app I wished I had.
I think about my kids, growing up in Texas where summers are unforgiving and even the other seasons can be unpredictable. I've always been watchful of the times I let them play outside. I think about my friends with dogs who worry about hot pavement burning their paws. I think about my parents, seniors in their 60s who walk every day but plan their entire schedule around the sun. I think about every person who loves being outside but has learned the hard way that the weather doesn't care about your plans.
ShadePath is free for everyone. I built it for people like me. For anyone who has ever stepped outside and wished they had a better way to know what they were walking into.
I'm not giving up on running. But this time, I have ShadePath to protect me. And I want everyone out there to have the same thing.
